Subwoofer calculator

Unsure about which model to chose and how many do I actually need?

At this point, we need to delve a little into theory. The achievable level depends on three factors: the membrane area, the excursion of the chassis, and the desired lower cut-off frequency (“how deep should the subwoofer play?”). In addition, there is the installation situation of the subwoofer system. For example, if a subwoofer is placed in a room, the sound field at the listening position will be very mode-dependent. This means that it is not easy to calculate. However, if you install a subwoofer system that largely suppresses the modes, it can be calculated quite well. One such system is Trinnov WaveForming, a DBA or SBA system. With such systems, there is still room-dependent bass amplification. However, this depends on the room geometry. Experience shows that you can expect to gain up to 12dB below 20Hz. However, we have not taken this into account in this calculator.

Select the subwoofer model and select the desired parameter that you would like to get as a result. Then, fill in the other two fields and the calculated result will be displayed. Feel free to play with the various parameters and see how our different subwoofer models differ from one another. Have fun!
